Alexis Whitmire

Alexis Whitmire has served as Grants Program Manager since July 2021. She leads the Foundation’s internal grantmaking program and manages a broad portfolio of local, state and federal grants that support community health, access to care and innovative partnerships across Spartanburg, Cherokee and Union counties.

In her role, Alexis works closely with hospital teams and community organizations to turn local needs into fundable programs, guiding projects from planning and implementation through evaluation and reporting. She oversees more than $15 million in grant funding and brings a strong focus on collaboration, data-driven decision making and measurable community impact.

Before joining Spartanburg Regional, Alexis managed a large COVID-19 research program at the Atlanta VA Health Care System in coordination with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, bringing a strong public health and research background to her work.

Alexis holds a Master of Public Health and a Bachelor of Science in Health Promotion from the University of Georgia. She lives in Spartanburg with her husband, daughter and their golden retriever.
